We still rope them around here. We have used the squeeze chute every once in a while to brand some steers, but we mostly rope and brand 98% of them.

wish people around here still did , but no rather set up panels , drive them in via 4 wheeler ( thats where i come in, left overs from the roudup )
to the pen load them, haul them , work them , haul them back to the same pasture, and turn them loose. I am not the smartest guy in the world but it lookes like you could skip some of the procesess and do it all right there . maybe thats to simple !

Well we still rope and brand. well we did when we lived on the ranch. and everyone that i know ropes and brands everything. i love it and i wouldnt do anything else. i have worked calf tables and dont like them. we work all of our older cattle in a hydrolic chute. i love working on a ranch and miss it.

My first post here. Be gentle!

We still rope them around here, too. (Montana and Idaho) I've always thought that branding tables were a terrible contraption. You could lose a finger in there!!

We gather up about 250-300 pairs into a pasture, rope the calves, drag 'em to the fire, brand em, castrate, de-horn and turn em loose to their mamma's. No panels, no 4-wheelers.
Definitely social. Along with calving, it's one of my favorite times of the year !

Anyone ever use Nord-Forks to brand with...They are slick...course they cut down on the B.S. side of the whole affair because you need one less person for each Nord-Fork, but they are pretty slick when you don't have a lot of volunteers...at either end.

We still rope, drag and brand here as well.

We do not brand any of our calves until we decide which heifers we are keeping in the fall. The neighbors still rope calves and drag them into fire and it is a lot of work but a lot of fun too.

we start in oklahoma and end up in kansas. We rope and drag about 4,000 head a year in the spring. We do gather in the fall but hydraulic shoots have taken over during the weaning. but we run fall calvin and spring calvin cows so we get to rope fall and spring!! norde forks work good, but you can't bum a chew from a norde fork!!!
